Moving forward after the 40 year reunion.
Our 40-year class reunion has now come and gone. August 5th, 2017 marked the day when many of our classmates met at the Elks Lodge in Salmon for a casual gathering with finger food to nibble on while mixing and greeting old friends. A video slide show of photos from our high school years and prior reunions running with a background of music from the Seventies set the stage where everyone who attended was able to share a little bit about their lives over the past 40 years.
A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with One Step.
There were various prizes handed out as well as a 50/50 raffle which was awarded to Odin Jarshaw. The reunion was well attended and those who attended, really enjoyed the event. With the reunion in the past, now, this website will remain. For those who were unable to attend, I hope to share the experience to the extent possible with virtual participation on this website. Forthcoming features will include pictures from the event. I will post the slide show used at the event and add to it, in the near future with some additional photos, old and new.
Existing features on this website will remain, including a virtual copy of the 1977 yearbook, class member profiles, memorials for our deceased classmates and some photos from the 30 year reunion. Additional features will include virtual yearbooks from our Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years, as soon as I get time to post those. Kudos to Zelma for the effort she put into getting those scanned and prepared for me to be able to publish them.
This website has certainly evolved from the original concept of an easy to access web page as a central source for reunion details, into what has become an active “community” with lots of participation and sharing from many of our class members. I think is definitely worth keeping around and it will continue to evolve. I’m still hoping for more profile submissions and will continue to try and locate more details on the class member memorials for which we have little or no information.
There’s already some discussion of another reunion in 5 years, so let’s continue to contribute here so we can make that an even better experience than the 40-year reunion turned out to be.
Miscellaneous Stuff
Web Site Features
Even though the reunion is passed. we will continue looking for material for the site. If you have suggestions for content or some relevant pictures we can use to dress up the site, use the form at the bottom of the Feedback page to send those ideas and/or pictures. I also suggest you formally subscribe to site updates so that as things are added, you will be aware. Just scroll down a little and you will see a place to enter your email address and click the Subscribe button. Super easy to do.
Keeping In Touch
Let’s try to keep the site going as a community of old friends. There are still plenty of good memories we can share. I’m willing to maintain and add new stories that people share and honestly hope we can get a lot more of these going. There was plenty of reminiscing at the reunion even, so please take some of those stories and send me the details. even if you are aren’t comfortable writing them up, just give me a few details and I can turn them into a proper feature on the site. Use the form on the History page to submit memories you’d like to share.
Calling for your profiles!
The classmate profiles are one of the really fun features of the website. If you haven’t done so already, please fill yours out right away. The reunion is now behind us but the purpose of such a gathering didn’t end there. The purpose is to reconnect with those classmates we shared those crucial and difficult teen years. Those who were at the reunion shared some great stories that we would love to have on the site for everyone to enjoy. If you attended, but haven’t submitted a profile, please do so for the benefit of those who were unable to attend. For those who couldn’t come, let’s keep the connections rolling by submitting your profile. Don’t be bashful, go to the Submit Your Profile right away and let’s get this rolling!
You can use the arrows below to scroll through the existing profiles and click on anyone you want to read. If there is someone specific you want to find, you can use the search box to the right. That will allow you to find that persons’ profile as well as any other pages, posts or comments that include their name. The search box is great for finding anything specific on the entire site. You can also go to the contacts page where class members are listed, alphabetically by their last name. Class members with a profile will allow you to click that persons first name and it will open their profile for you, in a new window or tab. You can click the headers on the contact list to change the sort order if you want to list by the first name.
